About Westview Jr. Softball

Our softball program is open to all youth ages 5 to 14.  Our “league age” is the age of the player as of January 1st of each year.

The following is a brief outline of our programs.

8U (Coach Pitch) – Coach Pitch ages: 5, 6, 7 & first-year 8 year olds. Coach Pitch is for the first or second year developing player, teaching them the basic fundamentals of the game of softball.  The emphasis is on fun and learning, in a non-competitive atmosphere.  The teams will have a couple of practices per week during May, then 2 games per week on weeknights beginning the first week of June.  The games take place within a localized area.  The travel is minimal; with most games in and around the Sunset High School (note: Travel to Banks for 3-4 games per season is normal).  The season concludes mid-July.  Batters will have the chance to hit pitches (5-6) from coaches and if needed they will then use the batting tee.  Games and practices are played with a ‘softer’ T-ball type softball to help in the learning process.

10U Softball – This program is for players 9 and 10 years old (experienced 8 year olds may move up).  Standings are kept, with the qualifying teams going on to the State Tournament in late July.  At this level the girls will begin to pitch during games and are played using a standard ASA 11” softball.

12U Softball – This program is for players 11 and 12 years old (experienced younger players may move up but will require league approval).  Standings are kept, with the qualifying teams going on to the State Tournament in late July.  At this level the games and are played using a standard ASA 12” softball and rules similar to those at the High School level.

14U Softball – This program is for players 13 and 14 years old (experienced younger players may move up but will require league approval).  Standings are kept, with the qualifying teams going on to the State Tournament in late July.  At this level the games and are played using a standard ASA 12” softball and rules similar to those at the High School level.
